Putting People First with Rhonda Vetere

Can you truly change the world without getting your hands dirty? Today’s guest is Rhonda Vetere who is a firm believer that when you’re not afraid of getting your hands dirty, and when you embrace the idea that grit and grind can be fun, nothing is going to stop you from achieving the life you desire. Rhonda is also recognized as one of most powerful women in technology today, a two-time author and an active leader. To give you an idea of just how active she is – she spearheads corporate initiatives around the world, while competing in IRONMAN 70.3 mile triathlons and mentoring students & athletes globally using #STEM through sport.

We don’t discuss industry or that one time she was almost kidnapped while she was in India – those experiences are all to be saved for our next round which we are going to share LIVE on Instagram in the near future. What you will hear us discuss is some of her guiding principles for leadership, how important mentorship has been for her and why she thinks it’s important to celebrate our successes and put people first.

Rhonda wants us to live an extraordinary life but knows firsthand that it’s not going to be perfect or without struggle. In her work as a Global Technology Executive, she’s faced down some of the biggest financial crises of modern times, and knows it’s not WHAT challenges you face in life but HOW you face them that matters. Without keeping our conversation from you any longer, here’s our discussion.

According to Rhonda and the principles she lives by, there is room to build opportunity for joy in your life – whether that’s through sport, giving back or leadership and if you know someone who will find value in this episode, send it to them. You never know what can open up someone’s perspective. It was so great to connect and share some energy with Rhonda and you can find the links to her book “Grit & Grind” and the Serengeti Girls Run below.

While I have you here, I thought I should let you know that Naturally Curious is growing! We’re setting up a shop with sustainable merch and are now working with the talented and UK based Kenneth West as our inaugural Artist in Residence. Come and connect with us @natcurio on Instagram and check out Ken’s stunning art each week. We’re also trying something new and if YOU would like to show up on our feed, take a picture of you wherever you’re listening to this  episode (or any of our previous ones) and use the hashtag #curiousclub, that way we can formally welcome you to the Curious Club!

Coming up on Naturally Curious, I’m talking with Annie Horton from Emerging Grief because grief is something that touches all of our lives. Following that is the former US Ambassador to Canada, Bruce Heyman where we will chat about the art diplomacy and finally Brittany Sierra, Founder of the @sustainablefashionforum. Until next time my friends, stay curious!
